The Ahmedabad City Detection of Crime Branch DCB on Sunday arrested four members of a racket involved in human trafficking. One of them is an NRI based in New Jersey, USA.
The four accused have been identified as Pal Patel 31 from New Jersey, Prahlad Chaudhary 34 from Indrapura village of Gandhinagar district, Rinkal Patel 19 from Mokhasan village of Gandhinagar district and Hemal Patel 14 from Shubh Ratna Society in Ahmedabad. The four have been remanded in police custody till December 9.
According to the police, Pal Patel used passports of his USA-based relatives to send some Indian citizens to the USA illegally. In a press release, DCB officials said that Pal, in connivance with an immigration agent, Anil Patel from Mokhasan village of Gandhinagar district, had conspired to make money by illegally sending some Indian nationals to the US on the passports of his relatives. Pal used to get 5,000 dollars for providing one US passport to Anil Patel.
As part of the conspiracy, Pal had come to India on October 26 along with the passports of his father, Magan Patel, sister Amisha and niece Bhavi Patel. Subsequently, Anil Patel used these passports to send the other three accused, whose faces were similar to the photos of Pal8217;s relatives in the passports, to the US.
However, the four were caught by immigration officials at the Doha airport in Qatar and were sent back to Ahmedabad.
An immigration official lodged a complaint with the DCB in this regard. Further investigations are on to nab Anil Patel.
