Union Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunsi on Thursday held the first meeting of the Organising Committee of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), to be held in Goa next month.

For the first time, two programmers from the Goa Government will be curating the IFFI with two separate sections called India 60, which will celebrate India’s 60th anniversary with three feature films and two documentary films, and a retrospective package on Volker Schlondorff, the eminent German filmmaker.

Taking stock of the preparedness for the event, the meeting decided that advance ticketing system would be introduced for delegates. A maximum of 3 tickets for every delegate and 5 for every media person will be issued.

In his remarks, Dasmunsi said that over the years the festival has gone from strength to strength and the ministry’s endeavour has been to make it still better. He lauded the role and suggestions from the film industry in raising the standard of the festival over time. The Organising Committee decided that the opening and closing functions would be simple and elegant.
