BANGALORE, May 29: Would be star shuttlers put their wares on the showcase on the opening day of the the Kwality Biscuits all-India mini badminton tournament at the Karnataka Badminton Association courts on Friday.

Seven quarterfinalists in the Girls Under-10 section were spotted.

In all the other sections, matches went on without any hitch, with only 25 walkovers throughout the day out of approximately 300 matches.

The most interesting match of the day came in the boys under-10 section, when tournament8217;s third seed Likhit Chand of Andhra Pradesh went down fighting in three sets to Karnataka8217;s Darshan.

Darshan caught the diminutive Andhra shuttler, unawares taking the first game at 15-11 before Likhit could realise what was happening. Likhit managed to strike back in the next game winning it at 18-16, but Darshan rode on home8217; support to take the decider at 17-15.

In girls Under-16, Pooja Patil of Karnataka served her rivals a serious warning by routing AP8217;s Manaswini 11-0,11-1.
