DUBAI, April 14: The International Cricket Council is setting up a special panel comprising well known cricket personalities to investigate allegations of match-fixing and bribery.

8220;We have already come to a decision on who is to be on the panel which will be announced by the end of this month,8221; ICC president Jagmohan Dalmiya has said.

8220;I have also to ensure that innocents are not harassed,8221; he said.Regarding the world Test series, the ICC chief said it 8220;is definitely on and it is only a matter of time when we get it going.8221; He said global recession had affected the World Cup but not in a big way. 8220;There were some problems with some of the sponsors because of that.8221;

In his first public reaction to Wisden editor Matthew Engel demanding his resignation for not doing enough to check match-fixing and bribery, Dalmiya said he did not need Engel8217;s certificate and asked him to do his homework before making allegations.

8220;It is unfortunate someone has used the Wisden, which is known as the bible ofcricket, as a platform. My heart bleeds at the way an individual has used an institution to publish irresponsible stuff without knowing the facts. I was not the chairman when all these incidents alleged bribery and match-fixing took place,8221; Dalmiya was quoted as saying.
