
Bindu Devi 25, a Dalit, paid with her life on Sunday for gathering the remains of wheat in a field after harvest. She was lynched allegedly by upper caste members of Dihree Baishar village in Rohtas district of south Bihar. An FIR has been lodged but no arrests have been made so far.
Reports said Bindu Devi, of the musahar caste, was gathering the grains when a few youths of the village shouted at her and beat her up with lathis. She died immediately. Rohtas DIG UK Singh said the FIR was against four named and three unknown people. Dalits of the village have blocked roads, demanding immediate arrests.
