Customs dept donates for Kargil fund

PUNE, JUNE 27: The Customs and Excise Department has contributed Rs 3.42 lakh towards the Kargil Fund. Chief Commissioner K V Vaidyanathan on Saturday handed over the cheque to Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha after the inauguration of the new complex in the city on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the staff had contributed a day8217;s salary. The CPWD contractors have contributed Rs 25,000 for the soldiers.Meanwhile, employees of the Pune People8217;s Co-operative Bank Limited have presented a cheque of Rs 1,51,000 to the National Defence Fund, for the aid of soldiers and martyrs8217; families.
