
MUMBAI, Oct 6: Central Railway Parel Workshop CRPW beat Hotel Centaur 2-0, in the Harwood League match of the Mumbai District Football Association MDFA at the St Xavier8217;s Ground, Parel.
CRPW took the lead in the 31st minute. A pass by Thomas Castellino saw winger Edward D8217;Souza dribble the ball past the Centaur defence and end it up with a powerful right-footer into the net. The match went 1-0 into the breather
The second-half saw a more spirited performance by the railwaymen.
Edward was again instrumental in increasing the lead. A fine pass by him saw striker Samson Elizah deflect the ball into the net
Earlier Samson had missed a penalty when Thomas Castilino was brought down in the dee But the ball hit the post and rebounded to Edward. Edward to had a shy at the net but the ball hit the bar again. Edward took the shot for the second time but punched it out.
After today8217;s match CRPW increased their points tally to seven from as many matches. Centaur have three points from their seven matches.

Centaur soar to victory
Centaur Hotel thrashed Excel Petrobanking 4-1 to win the Parish Football Tournament organised by the Dominic Savio Parish yesterday.
Prakash Moily scored a brace for the winners and was well supported by Norman DSouza and Selwyn Carvalho who scored one each Jaideep Sarkar decreased the margin of victory for Centaur.
D8217;Assisi mesmerise
The uner-14 and under-17 football teams of the Francis D8217;Assisi High School, representing Mumbai, made a clean sweep at the State Level Football Championships held at Nasik, recently.
D8217;Assisi beat Vidya Vikasini in the finals 6-5 via tie-breaker. Both the teams failed to score at the end of extra-time. Sushant Pawar, Fabian Rodrigues, Amit Dongre and Agnelo Picardo of D8217;Assisi made their way into the u-17 State team.
Ten players of the u-14 squad booked their place in the State team. They are:- Rakesh Kharekar, Frankson Thattara, Vinay Verghese, Savio Pereira, Vicky Verma, Aldrin Monteiro, Liston Fonseca, Nishit Karkera, Ishaq Qazi and Adam Alphonso.
Mahatma, Mithibai win
Mahatma Chembur thrashed Pillai8217;s VII 20-9 to win the men8217;s event at the XX Mumbai District Handball Championships at the Chembur English Sports Complex, yesterday.Vishal T and Raj Binu netted six times for the Chembur team.
In the women8217;s final, Mithibai outsmarted Cool Cats 13-7. Scorers for Mitibai were Nivedita B 4, Sweta M 3, Shruti J 2, Vandana S 2, Pooja 1 and Amruda N 1.
