
Two nabbed
The Palsana police achieved a major breakthrough in detection of a number of crime cases with the arrest of one Amooji Mohammed Adam Desai and one Mehboob Ashraf Malek. According to details, Desai, was arrested on Tuesday from Malekpore village of Palsana taluka by a police team led by Palsana police inspector P R Desai. Desai has cases of murder, extortion, kidnapping and attempt to murder registered against him in the Palsana, Chikli and Navsari police stations. While the crimes were committed between 1990 and 1995, he was also earlier arrested by the Rander and DCB police of the city. Malek is stated to be involved in vehicle thefts in the district since 1993. Both will be produced before a magistrate.
Body found
The Rander police recovered the dead body of a two-day old male child on Tuesday, who was abandoned in a school compound. Rander PSI K C Damor, who has registered a case against the unidentified mother, said that the dead body of the child was taken into custody by the police from the compound of the Gujarati school at Ugatgaam in Rander area. A case under section 318 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered.
Hit-and-run
One Chetan Patel received serious injuries and was hospitalised when a truck rammed into him at Sagrampura area on Tuesday afternoon, the Athwa Lines police said. Patel was riding a motorcycle when he was hit by the driver of a truck GTG 2870 near the Sagrampura Health Centre. Chetan8217;s leg got fractured.
Cash stolen
Burglars broke into a wholesale tobacco shop, in the Kamala Darwaja area, and decamped with cash, cigarettes and biscuit stocks worth Rs 32,000, the Salabatpura police said. Amrut Patel, the owner of Dhanlaxmi Tobacco, in a complaint with the police on Tuesday afternoon, said some unidentified people broke open his shop8217;s shutter and took away Rs 20,000 cash, and cigarette and biscuit stocks worth Rs 12,000.
