
Man robbed of Rs 5,000
In a case of robbery registered in the Katargam police station on Wednesday, five people, one of whom has been identified as Pappu, intercepted a pedestrian and after bashing him up, robbed him of Rs 5000. Santosh Patra, a worker in the Katargam GIDC, complained to the police that five persons in an autorickshaw GJ 5 Y 5394 stopped him near the that Katargam GIDC branch of the Bank of Baroda and after bashing him up, robbed him of Rs 5000, kept in his pocket. Patra identified the driver as one Pappu. A case has been registered and the police are investigating.
Hit-and-run
A car driver, while driving recklessly, hit a person with his vehicle on Tuesday night and fled the scene, the Ichhapore police stated. Fakir alias Prakash Rathod, a resident of Bhatpore village on the outskirts of the city sustained a fractured leg when a Maruti car GJ 5 N 5495 hit him near the Fire Service Gate of ONGC on Hazira Road, the police added. The Ichhapore police, after registering a case under sections of the IPC and MV Act, have referred the number to the RTO to trace the driver. The case is being investigated.
Brawl
A group of seven people bashed up two men with hockey sticks and other weapons, the Katargam police stated. According to a complaint lodged by Shailesh Vavdiwala, seven people forcibly entered his house, located at Phulpada area. Vavdiwala identified two of them as Hitesh Patel and his brother Naraj, along with five others as accused in the case. The accused also beat up his friend Himanshu with hockey sticks, he added. Vavdiwala told the police that he was attacked because he owed the Patels some money. The police have registered a case under IPC 143, 147, 148, 149, 324 and 457 and are investigating.
