
2 city residents arrested in fraud cases
The Economic Offences Wing of the city police has arrested Jaswant Singh and Bimla Sharma in two separate cases. Both the accused were wanted in fraud cases involving a few lakhs of rupees. While Jaswant owns a company in Sector 37, Bimla runs a firm in Sector 22. The police holding further investigations into the cases.
19 arrested in separate cases
As many as 19 persons have been arrested from various parts of the city during the past 24 hours. Nine of these were held for creating nuisance under the influence of liquor at a public place. Five persons were held for threat to peace and five for roaming under suspicious circumstances.
Driver booked for rash driving
A scooterist, Rajinder Singh, and pillion rider, Charan Singh, were injured when their scooter was reporetdly hit by a truck near the SAS Nagar barrier. Both of them are residents of Patiala district. While the truck driver fled from the scene, the police have registered a case of rash driving.
Cyclist hit in Manimajra
Rakesh Kumar was injured when the cycle he was riding was hit by a Swaraj Mazda in Manimajra. Rakesh is a resident of Hallomajra. The police have registred a case against the driver of the Swaraz Mazda, Prem Nath, of Hoshiarpur district.
Assault reported in Sector 21
A resident of Sector 21, K.R. Sharma, reported to the police that he was assaulted and threatened with dire consequences by the occupants of a car and two scooterists. The incident reportedly occurred near a STD booth in Sector 21-D. The police have registered a case and are investigating into the case.
