In the era of Twenty20 cricket it seems that even the BCCI8217;s cricket planning has entered an era of on-the-run planning. Gary Kirsten8217;s interview by a BCCI panel last week for the post of Indian coach was planned at such short notice that the South African could have missed the interview for want of an Indian visa. With a two-day weekend for the Indian Embassy in South Africa preceding his interview in Delhi, Kirsten was stuck without a visa. When this dawned upon the planners in the BCCI they had to use BCCI President Sharad Pawar8217;s influence in the Government to get the Indian Embassy in South Africa to facilitate Kirsten8217;s visa on the weekend.
