CHANDIGARH, MARCH 22: Chandigarh Housing Board chairperson Meenakshi Dutta Ghosh has appealed to the Sector 31 Baba Balak Nath temple management to act in a responsible way and not create hurdles in the way of the state-of-the-art Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre in Sector 31.
Terming the entry to the temple from the Dakshin Marg side as 8220;unreasonable and unacceptable8221;, Ghosh requested the temple management not to use this entry since the Administration had allowed another entry for the temple from the rear side.
She said even though the temple was an encroachment in the area, which was earmarked for the Convention Centre, the Administration had respected religious sentiments and the entry for the temple from the rear side had been carpeted by the Municipal Corporation. She appealed to the temple management not to make the issue a political one and help in the coming up of the centre. Earlier, presidents of Punjab units of Shiv Sena, Mahadev Dal, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad addressed a group of people in Sector 31, opposite The Tribune press today.
They were demonstrating against the building of the wall of the convention centre by the administration, that has cut access to the temple8217;s main entrance there. Critising the move, they threatened to demolish the wall if the administration did not did so within five days.
