MUMBAI, MARCH 26: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation blacklisted four contractors after they were caught loitering in the corridors of the civic headquarters late Wednesday night.

Civic security officers spotted Mukesh Bhai, Jatin Paresh, Chander Jain and Mukesh at 11 pm even as the House meeting was in progress. The general public are not allowed inside the premises after 5.30 pm. Additional Municipal Commissioner has asked the security department to submit a report on the trespassers managed to breach the security. However, the foursome had managed to give a slip to the civic staff.

Gaikwad, who was attending the House meeting was informed at 1.30 am. 8220;When the security informed me, I came out to see what was happening. But the contractors had disappeared,8221; he said adding that the course of action will be decided once he receives the detailed report from the security department.

According to a source in the corporation, about 16 contractors walked into the building and were seen sitting in somecorporators cabins. He added that some of the corporators also entered Municipal Secretary Sudha Khire8217;s cabin allegedly finalising a deal on some contracts.

However, the security officers on duty confronted some and started questioning them. Noticing this, other contractors left the premises. Later, the four also managed to leave. By the time Gaikwad was informed about the incident all had fled.

According to a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official it is not very difficult for contractors to get an access into the building at any time of the day. 8220;They just need to pay Rs 100. The group which had entered on Tuesday night were caught because it was late in the evening when the corridors of the building were empty. The source further said contractors waiting outside the doors even when the standing committee meetings are in progress is a common sight.
