
CHANDIGARH, Nov 19: The anticipatory bail plea moved by Haryana police constable Balwinder Singh has been dismissed by UT Additional District and Sessions Judge S. S. Lamba. Singh was accused of raping his wife because he had concealed his first marriage.
On his wife’s complaint, Singh was booked by the Chandigarh Police for criminal conspiracy cheating, rape, marrying again during the lifetime of a wife and subjecting a married woman to cruelty.
According to the prosecution, the second wife was not informed about his first marriage and came to know about it only after about two and a half years. Two daughters were born out of wedlock, the prosecutor said. Singh’s wife had also alleged that he was harassing her.
The judge, observed: “Prima facie offences under Section 376 of the IPC is made out and I do not consider it a fit case to grant concession of bail”.
