Conserve oil, say companies

CHANDIGARH, February 16: "Oil Conservation for Clean Environment" was the message given to the masses in a meet organised by the oil companies at the PU campus here. At the valedictory function, Advisor to the UT Administration Jagdish Sagar said that it was the responsibility of the citizens to feel conscious about the economy. "We should try our best to save oil which could be of great help to the nation," he said. "The phenomenal growth in consumption of petroleum products has led to a multifold increase in the outgoing foreign exchange of the country towards the costs of import of petroleum products," he added.

On this occasion, a cultural programme was organised where the students from different schools and colleges participated and conveyed the message to conserve oil through their cultural events. Further, prices were distributed to the children of the school from Chandigarh and Panchkula for the debate, essay and song competition respectively.
