NEW DELHI/PANAJI, Nov 25: The BJP today hit out at the Congress for blaming it for the fall of the Luizinho Faleiro Government in Goa and said the Congress there 8220;became a victim of its own gameplan8221;.
8220;It would be better if the Congress, instead of criticising the BJP, did some self-introspection and soul-searching. It is time the party conceded that it was unbable to remain unitedquot;, BJP vice-president Krishan Lal Sharma told reporters here.
BJP general secretary M Venkaiah Naidu said in Hyderabad that 8220;in Goa, Congress became a victim of its own gameplan and it is ridiculous to blame any party or individual for the crisisquot;.
quot;Blaming others is only showing signs of weakness. Most of the time it was the Congress which was in power in Goaquot;, Sharma said
Pointing that BJP cannot be held responsible for the infighting in the Congress, Naidu, when asked what was BJP8217;s role in the turmoil in Goa, said quot;we have no role to play. Since the elections were held recently, we played a positive role as a responsible political party to avoid another electionquot;.
Sharma was confident that the new coalition in the state would serve the remaining term in office and quot;our effort would be in that direction.quot;
Asked about BJP8217;s stand if the breakaway Congress group in Goa led by Sardinha wanted to join the National Democratic Alliance NDA, he said quot;that decision would be taken by the NDA constituents.quot;
Meanwhile in Panaji, a coalition partner in the government, said the Sardinha ministry would be expanded tomorrow with the inclusion of three more ministers from BJP.
Sardinha told reporters here today that with the induction of the three 8212; Digambar Kamat, Suresh Amonkar and Prakash Phadte 8212; the size of his council of ministers would go up to 14.
Sardinha, alongwith other ten rebel Congress MLAs were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor J F R Jacob, last evening after Faleiro tendered the resignation of his five-month old Congress government ahead of trust vote.
Earlier, Sardinha said all good policies of the previous government would be continued. Briefing newspersons after the informal8217; cabinet meeting, Sardinha also said that if any of the policies of the earlier government was found to be detrimental to the state8217;s progress, it would be discarded.
He said all the ministers were asked to study the files of their respective departments and added that the portfolios to the ministers would be allocated shortly.
To a question Sardinha said the government would soon discuss the financial state of affairs of Goa.
