CHANDIGARH, Nov 2: The complaint regarding illegal detention and torture against City Senior Superintendent of Police C S R Reddy, besides other police officials, was dismissed by UT Chief Judicial Magistrate Sant Parkash here today.

The complaint, earlier filed by alleged co-conspirator in the Burail jail-break case — Baljit Singh — had alleged torture after the accused was illegally detained by Chandigarh Police officials.

Today, pronouncing the orders in the open court, the CJM observed: “the allegations levelled in the complaint and the evidence adduced by the complainant do not inspire confidence and I find no merit in the same”.

The complaint — filed by Baljit Singh on June 11 — a day before his arrest, had earlier been referred to the CJM after the defence counsel had moved the Sessions Court, following directions by a Judicial Magistrate to SHO of Sector 39 police station to investigate the allegations.

Alleging torture, Baljit Singh, had stated that he was illegally detained by the police for over 10 hours. He had further alleged that electric current was administered to his private parts by the police officials after he was picked up from his Sector 40 residence on June 9 morning.
