
New Delhi, June 4: THE number of companies registered in India in April this year under the companies act significantly dropped compared to the previous month.
Of the 3055 companies registered in April, 3049 were limited by shares comprising two government public companies. The total authorised capital of the companies limited by shares registered during the month amounted to Rs 2,134 crore. These consisted of 283 public limited companies with an authorised capital of Rs 554 crore and 2766 private limited companies with an authorised capital of Rs 1,580 crore.
Maharashtra has the largest number of companies, limited by shares, registered during the month. Maharashtra, with 838 companies, was followed by Delhi with 577. Tamil Nadu occupied the third place with 274, followed by Andhra Pradesh with 219, Gujarat with 212 and West Bengal.
