VADODARA, July 2: Sahiyar Stri Sangathan, a Vadodara-based women's organisation, has condemned the `communalisation' of a seemingly trivial romantic episode in Bardoli. They have also condemned the communalisation of gender issues. The organisation, in a press release, has appealed to the ``conscious'' people to join them in condemning and ``puttting a full stop'' to such exploitation of women by communalising individual romantic events.Exploitation of minor girls by people under the pretext of ``protecting women'' irrespective of any religious faith by religious fundamentalists should be penalised, according to the organisation."Appropriating women under the garb of religion'', according to them,is equally unpardonable. The statement signed by Trupti Shah and others have questioned the propriety of fundamentalists who foment communalism under the garb of protecting women but turn their face to the increasing violence on women in Gujarat.``Why don't these people raise their voice against the increasing crime against women'' , they ask.At least 13 women are killed for dowry daily in Gujarat, they point out. Most of these ``people who cry themselves hoarse'' for protecting minor girls of their religions, they allege, are party to killing girls before their birth and are guilty of increased violence on women of all religions. The organisation also condemned the social and economic boycott of people by fundamentalist organisations which lead to the exodus of certain families in Randhikpur and Devgadh Baria.
