
Seminar on economy wreck
The CFA Council A constituent of ICFAI University had organised a seminar on 8216;The Wall Street Crisis- Its impact on Global Financial Market8217; at MCCIA, Senapati Bapat Road on October 4. Ramesh Havele, CFA, chairman and managing ditrector of Dhananda Portfolio Management Ltd, was the speaker. He spoke about the financial crisis faced throughout the world. The interactive session was to identify the issues and solutions for the crisis.
Naac visit to Indira College
A Naac National Assessment and Accreditation Council team from Bangalore in on a visit to Indira College of Commerce and Science. The team comprised Veena Mistry from Badodara, Father Albert Muthumalai from Chennai and Anne Fernandez from Coimbatore. The purpose of their visit is accreditation. The College Principal has said that the college is all set to clear the tests.
Corporates at SCMHRD
Lean and Six Sigma Excellence Awards 2008 were conducted at the SCMHRD Campus on October 10 and 11. Many Companies across the country as well as abroad had participated in the event. The selected finalists gave power point presentations and on the basis of all the evaluations awards were given at the end.
Kshitij workshop
The workshop conducted by Kshitij at the College of Engineering, Pune on October 11 was a huge success. The event organised for the first time in Maharashtra by the largest Techno- Management Fest, provided practical demonstration of making of Gliders. Students from 12 Colleges of Pune participated in the event. A similar workshop is to be organised in Kolkata on October 19.
Scholarship for student
The Uttam Singh Wadhwa Memorial Trust has selected Sandeep Dhonge from Maharashtra Institute of Technology and Shilpa Nair from MIT School, of Business for its annual scholarship programme for the year 2007-08. The scholarship has been awarding Rs 25000 each to a boy and a girl student. Satnam Singh Wadhwa a couple of years ago had initiated the scholarship.
Book launch
Fuel Friends Union for Energising Lives released the fourth edition of Student8217;s Fuel, a magazine by students, of the students and for the students on October 12. The NGO also gave FUEL Leadership Awards to its members as well as the supporters on the occasion of its 2nd Anniversary. Deepak Shikarpur, a well-known figure from IT Industry was the chief guest for the function. The new Fuel team for 2008-2009 was also selected. Ketan Deshpande, chairman of Fuel said that with the support they are getting very soon they could start up their programme in Karnataka. A seminar was also conducted for the students as well as the parents at the end of the function.
