CHENNAI, FEBRUARY 2: Chief Minister M Karunanidhi evaded commenting on the allegations against the state government made by TMC leader G K Moopanar and hinted that the only anti-people decision the DMK took was to have allied with the TMC in 1996.
To mediapersons8217; queries at the Secretariat on Tuesday, the CM pointed out that he had instructed his partymen not to indulge in point-by-point rebuttal of the charges. He did not want to set a precedent and would refrain from comment unless the situation warranted it.
8220;Moopanar has said that we indulged in anti-people activities and that we were an anti-people force. If at all we have done anything anti-people, it was on March 31, 1996 and we seek the people8217;s pardon for that deed,8221; Karunanidhi said.
Asked if he was referring to the announcement of the DMK-TMC alliance then, the CM said, 8220;I leave it to your interpretation.8221;
He refused to comment on the TMC leader8217;s insistence that the Third Front was still alive.
