
Members of a joint Jharkhand Police-CRPF team had a narrow escape on Wednesday when a landmine blast triggered by CPIMaoist cadres hit their armoured vehicle in Bishnugarh police station area in Hazaribagh district. The police personnel were saved by the indigenously built Medium Mines Protected Vehicle. 8220;Only a constable received minor injuries,8221; said one of 18 personnel on board the vehicle. 8220;It was a very powerful blast with the mine weighing around 85 kg,8221; said DIG R K Mallick. The vehicle, manufactured by the Medak-based Ordinance Factory, was purchased by the state as part of the 8216;modernisation programme8217; sponsored by the Union Home Ministry.
