
Mumbai, March 13: The preparatory team to ensure US President Bill Clinton’s security in the city, during his visit to the metropolis on March 24, arrived here today.
Two US aircraft, carrying 36 personnel, landed here at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport, airport authorities said.
The personnel, carrying sophisticated equipment, later drove to Oberoi Hotel in south Mumbai.
According to USIS sources, these personnel are the key persons’ involved in ensuring security cover for the US President during his visit.
“The chief of the key persons will be arriving tomorrow night”, the sources said.
Meanwhile, the city witnessed a facelift as roads were freshly coated with white paint and dusty highways were cleared of litter.
However, in several parts of the city, local NGOs displayed banners and shouted slogans against the forthcoming visit of Clinton.
