
No kidding, they catwalk
Mind-boggling. Kids doing the catwalk and sensational dances enlightened the environment of Nehru Memorial Hall on November 27. This cultural programme Sensations8217; was organised and choreographed by Marilyn Grimditch.
Marilyn started the programme with her prayer dance. The artistes, between 3 and 16 , belonged to the Dancing Joes academy and were first-time performers. The chief guest was Soudamini Rao, a Bharatnatyam exponent.
Tiger country beckons
8220;Experience the N8217;Gorongoro of India8221; with the WWFIndia, Pune division. Join the WWF India8217;s Pune division to visit Kanha National Park described by most as India8217;s greatest national park. Situated in the Mekal hill ranges, it encompasses pristine forests, grassy valleys, picture postcard locations. Identified as an area of high-density tiger population, it was declared a tiger reserve in 1974. Winter is the best time to see the barasingha. The chances of seeing a tiger here are probably more than anywhere else in India. So, join the WWF Pune team to see feel and experience the Kanha National Park. Experiences speak
A talk on the experiences of the team members of Chanakya Mandal who visited and worked in the cyclone-hit Ballikuda in the Jagatsinghpur district of Orissa. Ballikuda was totally destroyed by the cyclone. The team had seven members from the science, arts and commerce streams and those who are being trained at the Chanakya Mandal8217;s courses and two interns from the Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune. The team members were in Orissa from November 7 to 24. The two interns from this team worked at the army hospital and also arranged trips to other remote devasted areas to give them medical help. The other team members helped in dressing wounds of the wounded, distributing clothes to the needy and also for performing the last rites of the dead. They will talk about their experiences on December 6 at 6 pm at Chanakya Mandal.
