Trade unionist passes away

November 5: A veteran trade unionist of the Central Government Employees and Workers CGEW Nagpur, Mohan Singh, expired on Wednesday at Mahim. He was in Mumbai to attend the all India Conference of Directorate of Marketing and Inspection Employees8217; Association.

NRC bonus

November 5: More than 7000 workers of National Rayon Company NRC have already collected their bonus/ex-gratia, according to a press release of NRC. The rest of the workers will also collect the bonus/ex gratia once the fear psychosis vanishes, the release further read.

Elected

November 5: The western region of Indian Airlines Officers8217; Association IAOA has constituted the new regional executive committee for the year 1998-99 under the chairmanship of S D Borkar, deputy manager, Data Communications. According to an association press release, K P Parhar, deputy manager commercial, has been elected as vice chairman, P D Shenoy, deputy manager comm as regional secretary. N Y Karnik, deputy manager security is the joint secretary and C G Ghagare, assistant manager finance is the treasurer. Elections will be held in the other regions shortly.

Book released

November 5: A book Mumbai Port Facilities and procedures8217; by M J Mathew was released on Monday at a function in the Mumbai Port Trust conference hall by R R Sinha, deputy chairperson. The first of its kind, the book covers all aspects of port working. It includes 26 subjects concerning the whole gamut of port functioning. The function took place at the Indian Merchants Chamber.Swayamwara n THE Mulund Bhajana Samaj will be conducting Swayamwara Meet8217; on 9th November, 3 pm at Vani Vidyalaya, Nehru Road, Mulund W, to provide a common platform for eligible boys and girls to choose their life partners. Those who are interested can register their names at Vani Vidyalaya daily between 7 and 8 pm.

Awards

November 5: Chaitanya Seva Sadan, a non-political social and cultural organisation, has set up two awards: Nrutya Alok and Swar Alok to be given each year to upcoming, talented and promising artists.

Each award comprises a trophy, shawl and Rs 11,000 cash. This year8217;s award winner is Suchismita Daripa, a Bhilai MP based vocalist. The award will be presented at a function at the Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan auditorium on Saturday.
