CHENNAI, SEPT 5: It was a famous quote in tennis when the debonair Ilie Nastase said of Bjorn Borg, ``we all play tennis and he plays something else and should be sent to the moon.''That was in the early seventies. After nearly three decades, China's Wang Hao must have thought on similar lines. He was playing flawless percentage table tennis and it looked good enough from a distance. But what he could do against one who was too focused ? Korean Ryu Seung Min, who was beaten by China's Wang Jiang Hun in the last edition, was in no mood to yield any ground.Seung made it a fine double, winning the boys singles and doubles as the curtain came down on the seventh edition of the Asian Junior table tennis championship at Nehru Indoor Stadium today.Seung beat China's Wang Hao 21-12, 21-12, 13-21, 21-17 and partnering Kim Jung Hoon, prevailed over Tang Peng and Wang Hao 21-8 21-16 for the boys doubles title. In an all-Chinese girls final, Zhang Fang won her maiden title, with a five- game verdict over LiQang Bing. It was push-prod for the best part. The miserly look of the girls was an indication as to how much they valued each point. Not much separated the two in their approach. Zhang was home and dry in her third match point. The relief all over was palpable for the stage was clear set for the boys to take over.Even the best of Wang's serves were deposited with disdain for winners in the first two games. Wang's best hopes were to push Seung deep down in his backhand. But what Wang did not bargain was Seung's ability to counter that with a slanted bat.He played his smooth as silk backhand drives with refreshing freedom. Seung reacted like a cornered tiger going deep down to play the forehand drives. Wang too relished the pace and once he had that shake-me-not lead of 17-8, Seung chose to preserve his energy. The girls doubles event fell through as the Chinese-Taipei girls, Lu Yun Feng and Pan Li Chun, gave a walk over to the Chinese pair of Chen Ling and Zhan Fang, after Chun reported sick.
