GHANOUR Patiala, April 4: Prem Singh Chandumajra, MP, today called upon the people to boycott the sarkari8217; function being organised by the state government, headed by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal regarding the tercentenary celebrations.
Addressing a meeting of party workers here at the Grain Market, he claimed that the functions being organised by suspended Akal Takht Jathedar Bhai Ranjit Singh belong to Panthic forces, while the sarkari functions belong to anti-Panthic forces.
He said by interfering in the religious affairs of Sikhs, Badal had committed a big mistake and his actions have led to the disintegration of Panthic unity. Chandumajra said Badal had led to the denigration of the Panth by dishonouring the Akal Takht.
Lamenting the attitude of the state government, he alleged the government had failed on all fronts and development works had come to a standstill. The government had even failed in its attempt to upgrade schools in the state, Chandumajra said.
Lashing out at Finance Minister Kanwaljit Singh, he said the minister had failed to fulfill his promises and had in turn imposed heavy taxes on the common man. The SAD MP said people in the state were moving closer to Tohra and his supporters because they felt that Badal had done great injustice to them.
The Chief Minister said the government claimed to champion the cause of farmers but in turn they were being given a raw deal during the regime of a pro-farmer Chief Minister. Chandumajra said a sum of Rs 3 crore had been diverted from SGPC funds for arranging the langar for sarkari functions.
Meanwhile, speaking on the occasion, Rajinder Singh Tohra, district president, rural, announced the days of Badal-led government were numbered and it would fall due to its own weight.
