President Donald Trump wears a gift, which he calls a "Happy Trump" pin, during a meeting with oil executives in the East Room of the White House. (Photo: AP) US President Donald Trump was seen wearing a new lapel pin showing a small cartoon-style image of himself, even as he said he is “never happy”.
The pin, placed below the traditional American flag pin on his suit, caught attention during an event at the White House East Room on Friday, where Trump met oil executives to discuss future US involvement in Venezuela’s energy sector.
Asked about the accessory, Trump told reporters: “Somebody gave me this. Do you know what that is? That’s called a Happy Trump,” according to the Associated Press (AP).

The pin shows Trump with an oversized head and an open mouth, which some people online compared to a bobblehead. Trump did not say who gave it to him.
Looking down at the pin, he added with a smile: “Considering the fact that I’m never happy, I’m never satisfied. I will never be satisfied until we make America great again, but we’re getting pretty close. This is called a Happy Trump,” he said, as quoted by AP.
This is not the first time Trump has worn the same pin. He was seen with it earlier this year during a February ceremony to swear in Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence, though he did not comment on it at the time.
An online search shows a similar Trump lapel pin for sale on Amazon, priced at USD 9.99, bundled with another pin featuring an American flag over a map of the United States, AP reported.

US presidents have regularly worn American flag pins since the September 11, 2001 attacks. Former President Joe Biden sometimes wore a pin combining the US and Ukraine flags to show support for Ukraine.
Barack Obama faced criticism in 2007 when he said he would stop wearing a flag pin, arguing it had become a stand-in for “true patriotism”. He later resumed wearing one during his campaign.
Trump-themed lapel pins have appeared in Washington before. In April, Brendan Carr, the Trump-appointed chair of the Federal Communications Commission, wore a gold pin shaped like Trump’s profile during a meeting on Capitol Hill.
