Valuables worth Rs 60 lakh stolen from former bureaucrat’s Greater Kailash home while family was away after son’s death, police say
Valuables worth around Rs 60 lakh were stolen from a former bureaucrat’s house in South Delhi’s Greater Kailash, while he was out of town following the death of his son, police said.
The theft came to light on Friday after the owner’s nephew, Rajan Jain – a resident of Block E in Greater Kailash Enclave II – discovered that the house had been ransacked and made a PCR call to the Chittaranjan Park police station.
“Jain said that the house belongs to his uncle, who was out of Delhi as his son had died… On noticing the main gate open, Jain entered the house and found household articles lying scattered,” an officer said. At least five items were stolen from the house, officers said.
Police said the owner was contacted and provided a list of stolen articles. The former bureaucrat is slated to return home on Saturday.
