
HSEB to give pension to staff
The Haryana State Electricity Board in its meeting held here today has granted pensionary benefits to its employees. An official spokesman of the Board in a press release said that the additional financial liability with regard to payment of pensionary benefits would be to the extent of Rs 6 crore per annum.
Results announced
The Staff Selection Commission NWR Chandigarh has announced the result of the proficiency test for the recruitment of the posts of computer operators in Labour Bureau. This test was conducted on April 23 and 24 this year. The successful candidates who do not receive call letter for interview by June 26 should contact commission8217;s office. The result of the test has been displayed on the notice board of SSC NWR, Kendriya Sadan, at Sector 9, according to a press release issued here today.
Awareness camp concludes
The local branch of Indian Council of Social Welfare organised a five-day awareness generation camp at Sarangpur village. The camp, which concluded today, was organised under the scheme of Awareness Generation Project for rural and poor women. The scheme envisages creating awareness among women on various subjects, according to a press release issued here today by council general secretary Shreshtha Mehta.
Vaccination camp tomorrow
The Department of Social Service and Survey will organise a quot;subsidisedquot; Hepatitis-B vaccination camp on Sunday at IDCRL Chamber 30, SCO 11, Sector 11, Panchkula. A press release issued here today by the department said that they had vaccinated more than 4,500 people last year and organised 12 camps during 1997-98.
Levelling of roads demanded
In a letter to Municipal Commissioner S.K. Gathwal, the Chandigarh Press Association has stated that the low-lying kutcha road leading to Press Colony in Industrial Area, Phase-I, is uneven and required immediate attention for removal of earth and levelling of the plots to avoid accumulating of rain water. Association president Jawahar Bakshi urged the Municipal Commissioner to issue directions to the official concerned for levelling the roads and plots at the earliest.
Defence staff demands
Defence Accounts Department employees have demanded a pay-scale of Rs 1,640-2,900 for senior auditors and accountants of Accounts and Audit Office. Hans Raj, general secretary of the Chandigarh Defence Employees Association, said they have also demanded that the pay-scales be similar to Central Secretariat for higher grade officials of the accounts and audit offices.
NSUI criticises BJP policies
The National Students Union of India while criticising the BJP has termed their policies as quot;directionlessquot; and quot;motivated to generate political mileagequot;, instead of concern for the nation. President of the local unit of NSUI, Harmohinder Singh Lucky, while listing out various issues where the BJP has politicised them, has expressed general disillusionment with the BJP rule. He also termed the failure of the BJP on the nuclear issue, even as it has failed to relate itself with problems of women, youth, minorities and farmers.
Ravish appointed as Haryana Cong chief
Prithvi Singh Ravish, former state president of Akhil Bhartiya Rajivwasi Congress, Haryana, has been appointed state president of Haryana Pradesh National Youth Congress with additional charge of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. This was stated in a press release issued here today.
