CampLUDHIANA: The local unit of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), which was recently activated, organised an animal welfare camp at Jawahar Nagar here in which more than 100 animals including dogs, horses and pigeons were given a check-up.A team of veterinary doctors treated the sick animals and vaccinated them against rabies. While truck-driver Kulwinder Singh (24) of Fattuwal village in adjoining Hoshiarpur district, died on the spot, Canter-driver Mana Lal of Dholewal in Ludhiana district, succumbed to his injuries in Sacred Heart Hospital here, police added.Their bodies were returned to their relatives after post mortem in the civil hospital. CrimeHOSHIARPUR: Ram Chand, chairman of Block Samiti, Garhshanker and two others Satish Kumar and Madan Lal, all brick-kiln owners, have been arrested under the Gambling Act. On a tip-off, Garhshanker police raided the block samiti office on Sunday afternoon where the three were found gambling. An amount of Rs 1,04,650 was recovered from them.
