LTTE8217;s wake-up call: TULF leader killed
An LTTE suicide bomber today killed a prominent Tamil member of parliament, Neelan Thiruchelvam, who was a lawyer, intellectual, humanist and man of peace.The 55-year-old moderate leader, vice-president of the Tamil United Liberation Front, was killed instantly when the suicide bomber threw himself on his car while it was held up in a traffic jam not far from his home in a high-security neighbourhood of the capital.

New Haryana ministry formed
Haryana Chief Minister Om Parkash Chautala today constituted his 13-member ministry. The two-tier ministry, with seven cabinet ministers and six of the minister of state rank, betrays a marked preference for the HVP rebels, highlighting the political compulsions the new CM faces. The ministers 8211; seven from the HVP Democratic, four Independents and two from the INLD 8211; were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Mahabir Prasad.
