Karnataka Assembly dissolved
One of the key architects of the Janata Dal split, Chief Minister J.H. Patel on Thursday moved swiftly to neutralise the Deve Gowda camp by first sacking eight rival ministers and then getting the Assembly dissolved. This move caught the Gowda camp napping, literally, for most of its supporters were busy with the overnight siege of the JD office on Race Course Road.
