SGPC appeals to Akal Takht
The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee SGPC, whose president G. S. Tohra is embroiled in a feud with Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, today appealed to Akal Takht, the supreme temporal seat of the Sikhs, to intervene immediately in the stand-off between the two Akali Dal leaders and resolve the differences.

Khurana apologises
Rattled by Rashtrapati BhavanAtilde;shy;s terse rejoinder, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Madan Lal Khurana today apologised to President K.R. Narayanan for dragging his office into the controversy surrounding the government8217;s failure to get the Patents Bill passed in the Lok Sabha. At a press conference on Wednesday, Khurana had said that the Patents Bill was sent to Rashtrapati Bhavan for clearance after it was passed by the Rajya Sabha the previous night.
