Army out in Karachi to quell violence
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today suspended fundamental rights in the Sindh province and called in the Army to quell violence in the provincial capital, Karachi, a report said. During his visit to the commercial capital, Sharif also announced the setting up of military courts in Karachi to try criminals and terrorists in a bid to stem violence in the city.

Tension over Hayer8217;s killing
Tensions ran high in Western Canada8217;s large Sikh religious community after the killing of an outspoken newspaper publisher threatened to inflame a long-running, sometimes violent feud, a report from Vancouver said. Tara Singh Hayer, publisher of the Indo-Canadian Times, North America8217;s largest Punjabi newspaper, was shot outside his home in Surrey, a suburb of Vancouver, on Wednesday.
