
CHANDIGARH, AUG 31: Chandigarh Football Club beat City Cops Football Club by one goal to nil in the super league of the Chandigarh State Senior football league championship at the Sector 17 Football Stadium, here today.
In a fast-pace match, City Cops dominated the first half of the first session and missed several scoring chances. City Cops came near to scoring in the 13th minute but Kuldeep failed to beat the rival goalkeeper Jasmeet Singh. In the later part of the first half, Navdeep Singh of Chandigarh XI got a golden chance to score but his powerful shot was saved by goalie Mukesh.
Chandigarh XI8217;s forward line made repeated forays into the rival citadel and were successful in their moves. Just before the break Lakhminder got the match winner for Chandigarh XI when he directed the ball into the net off a cross floated by Sohan Negi.
After the change of sides, City Cops made attempts to score an equaliser but were unable to peneterate the Chandigarh XI defence-line.
The match also had its share of rough play. The referee had to flash cards on four occasions, including red card twice.
Navdeep Singh of Chandigarh XI was shown yellow card while Rajiv of City Cops was flashed red card by the referee.
Red card was also shown to Shiv Shambu of City Cops for unsportsman like conduct on the field.
Earlier, in the first half Sukhwant of City Cops was also shown yellow card.
