NEW YORK, JUNE 6: Charges of criminal possession of cocaine were dismissed against Cameron Douglas, son of actor Michael Douglas, after he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of disorderly conduct, prosecutors said on Monday.
Douglas, 20, was sentenced to serve two days of community service. He had faced up to a year in jail had he been convicted on the misdemeanor charge of drug possession.
He was arrested last October by police in the lobby of a luxury Manhattan apartment building after he was found with more than a gram of cocaine in the pocket of his jeans.
In November 1996, Cameron Douglas was put on three years probation after allegedly driving drunk, causing a three-car pileup in Santa Barbara, California in which a Secret Service agent was dragged behind his car. In 1997, Douglas also served a year in a drug rehabilitation centre on the orders of a judge.
