Indian hockey8217;s technical advisor Ric Charlesworth blamed coach Joaquim Carvalho for sidelining him from the Chile tournament. Charlesworth said he wanted to help the team in the Olympic qualifiers, but did not get the go-ahead from the IHF as Carvalho did not want him in Santiago. Eyebrows were raised as to why Charlesworth was not sent to Chile along with the Indian team.
Charlesworth said the original plan was that he would go to Chile for the Olympic qualifiers, but the IHF did not provide him with a return ticket to India from Australia. 8220;The plan was always for me to accompany the team but I remain stranded in Perth awaiting a ticket to return to India. I believe the coach did not want me to be involved and I could not convince
Mr Gill that it was important,8221; Charlesworth said.
He however said that his work in India was progressing well. 8220;I had identified many things that needed to be rectified,8221; he said.
