Ravi Bajaj is the latest Delhi designer to come to the city, hot in the footsteps of Sumeet Verma and Rohit Bal 8212; two designers whose stores in South Mumbai are enjoying a lot of popularity with society8217;s divas. Ravi Bajaj has been a designer in the capital since the last 13 years, and is well known for his western wear designs. His range of evening clothes used to be available at Glitterati, and then at his own store on Peddar Road. That shut down fours year ago, and since then his designs had been more-or-less in absentia from the city.

Though his pret line has been available at Shopper8217;s Stop. Thanks to its pricing between Rs 600 to Rs 2,500, his ready-to-wear line has become very popular. But for those who prefer something more dressy and are willing to splurge, Allure, the lifestyle store in Crawford Market, will be stocking Ravi8217;s sarees and evening dresses. Ravi started designing sarees a year ago. quot; They are contemporary, but do not have zippers on them or anything. The form is still traditional, quot;he says. What makes them different is the fabric that Ravi uses. He tends to use Italian fabrics, linen and silk mixes and even assettes-silks. quot; They are unusual, but they really drape exceptionally well, quot; says Ravi.

At the moment Allure is stocking his summer sarees, that include some light-weight black sarees and pastels. And soon Ravi will also be sending a range of his evening dresses, priced at Rs 6,000.

quot; They are very subtle, in whites and pastels, quot; says he.
