CHANDIGARH, Oct 3: Bhavan Vidyalaya-27 and DAV Public School-8 lifted titles in the boys (under-19) and girls (under-17) section, respectively, in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Cluster XI table tennis tournament which concluded here today at the New Public School premises in Sector 18.
Results
Girls:
Under-17: DAV Public School-8 bt AKS School-41, 3-1 (Ruchi Gautam lost to Ramanpreet 21-17, 14-21, 18-21; Nadia Saini bt Megha Kassal 21-19, 21-19; Ruchi and Nadia bt Ramanpreet and Megha 19-21, 21-20, 21-18; Ruchi Gautam bt Megha Kassal 21-11, 16-21, 21-18).
Boys: Under-19: BV-27 bt NPS-18, 3-1 (Karan Mahajan lost to Neeraj Kumar 11-21, 22-20, 17-21; Harpreet bt Sameer 21-3, 21-11; Puneet Bansal lost to Neeraj 12-21, 15-21; Harpreet bt Neeraj Kumar 21-16, 22-20).

Gymnastic meet
The Chandigarh State Gymnastic Championships will be held from October 22 to 24, according to DV Bhatia, president of the Chandigarh Gymnastic Association.

The state teams will be selected for the Sub-Junior Nationals to be held at Jodhpur from November 10 to 14 and Junior Nationals at Calcutta in December, during the meet.

St Xavier’s golf
The St Xavier’s Northern India Junior and Sub-Junior Golf Championship will be held from October 5 to 8 at Chandigarh Golf Club, according to Vice principal Albert Temple.

Sports Policy
The Haryana Sports Department has convened a meeting of all presidents and secretaries of all state associations and Haryana Olympic Association tomorrow at 11.30 a.m., at Haryana Niwas in Chandigarh. During the meeting ways and means to raise the standard of sports in the state will be discussed.

The main agenda of the meeting will be to form a new sports policy and setting up of the State Sports Council. The matter regarding holding of National Games in Haryana in 2002 will be discussed. Sports Minister Raj Kumar Saini will preside over the meeting.

Inderjit nominated
Inderjit Singh, Sports Authority of India (SAI), gymnastic coach, has been nominated as a technical judge for the 34th world gymnastics championships to be held at Tianjin (China) from October 9 to 16.

Earlier, during the Asian Games (1982), Inderjit acted as a senior judge. He was also appointed chief judge during the Seoul Asian Games (1986) and Commonwealth Games (1994).
