The 12 assailants did not allow the three victims to move out of their car
Three youths were injured, one of them critically, as nearly one dozen assailants carrying sharp-edged weapons attacked them on the Pakhowal road late last night.
The injured youths have been admitted to the DMC hospital and the police have registered an attempt to murder case against unidentified assailants.
The injured persons have been identified as Vishal Joshi, Vaibhav Sharma and Rajinder Singh. The condition of Vaibhav is stated to be serious.
According to sources, the youths were attacked by about 12 assailants when they were travelling in a car near the Green Field area on the Pakhowal road at night. Sources said the assailants, who came in a car and on two motorcycles, did not let the victims move out of their car. After injuring them, the assailants fled from the spot as people started assembling there.
A police team reached the spot on receiving the information about the incident. The injured were initially rushed to a nearby private hospital from where they were referred to the DMC hospital. Sources said that Joshi, a resident of Sukh Ram Nagar who owns a finance business, was the main target of the assailants.
The Division number 5 police have registered an attempt to murder case against unidentified assailants and have started search for them.
