
2 robbers held
Two persons were arrested in connection with the robbery of gold worth Rs 8.6 lakh within 12 hours after the incident took place on Saturday afternoon.According to the police, jeweller Arun Nandlal Jain 33 and one Naresh Kumar Yadav were at an ornament refactory unit near the busy Mumbadevi temple in south Mumbai when two persons threatened them with a gun and chopper. The robbers snatched from a bag containing gold biscuits, rings and chains. While one robber identified as Prakash D8217;Souza 27 managed to run through the crowd weilding the gun, his chopper carrying accomplice Sudhakar Rao alias Prabhakar 27 was not lucky. People managed to overpower Rao and beat him up before handing over to the L T Marg police. During interrogation Rao revealed the identity of his associate, who was arrested from Palace Hotel at Sakinaka around 2.30 am on Sunday. The police however have not been able to lay their hands on the booty yet. Meanwhile, the investigations are on.
Traffic atMahim
The traffic department of the Mumbai police have announced restrictions on vehicular traffic at Mahim after the new flyover bridge at Mahim Causeway inaugurated 10 days ago has led to some confusion among motorists.
There will be no right turn for north-bound traffic at the junction of S V Road amp; Mahim Causeway. The motorists shall keep their vehicles on two left lanes and use the newly commence Mahim Causeway flyover bridge for proceeding towards Western Express Highway. The motorists proceeding towards S V Road, Bandra shall keep their vehicles on two right lanes.
The motorist coming from Bandra Reclamation and intending to proceed towards Ali Yawar Jung Marg i.e. Western Express Highway shall take left turn and proceed along new flyover bridge. There shall be no entry for any motor vehicle coming from Ali Yawar Jung Marg i.e. Kalanagar junction side, Bandra on the newly constructed flyover bridge. The road users are requested to co-operate with police to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
