Brief showers lash city

CHANDIGARH, June 28: Even as several parts of the region were lashed by torrential rains, the city and its vicinity experienced brief showers during the past 24 hours.

While about 16.6 mm rain was recorded till 8.30 a.m. this morning, brief showers in the morning caught commuters unawares, notching up the rain-gauge8217;s display by another 2 mm.

The rain also resulted in the mercury hovering about five degrees below normal, with the maximum temperature not exceeding 33 degrees Celsius.
