DECEMBER 23: A joint meeting of the sub-committee of The Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) and The Bookmakers Association of Western India (BAWI) today amicably settled the long-pending issue of increasing the stall fee. BAWI has agreed to increase by 11 per cent the stall fee for all racing centres and betting centres under RWITC.

The decision, made possible by the undying efforts of senior committee member Ravi Ghai and KN Dhunjibhoy, will substantially help RWITC come out of the financial crisis.

Ram Dandekar, President, BAWI, said that the bookmakers have always stood with the Club and will continue to endeavour to help the club.

GHAI’S RESIGNATION: An emergency meeting of RWITC was convened to consider the resignation of Ravi Ghai as a Steward. The decision was deferred to Sunday.
