
CHANDIGARH, July 16: Three hoax bomb calls created panic in the city here this evening. All three calls were received within an hour. UT SSP C. S. R. Reddy did not rule out any foulplay. According to sources, only one of the four caller identification systems installed recently in the police control room remains in the PCR with the rest of them having been taken to the residences of certain police officials.
Upon reaching the spot in Sector 16, the police parties found that a jute bag lay near an electricity police opposite SCF no. 1. Two wires were hanging out of the bag. The police at once cordoned off the area and took the bag away. The PCR got another call that a bomb was planted inside a Fiat car parked in Sector 8. It turned out to be a tiffin box that was placed on the front seat and a rope was attached to it. Woman driving the car had gone to the market after locking the car, said police sources. On returning she saw a quot;bomb-likequot; object had called up the PCR. The third call was a totally hoax one with the police finding nothing from the spot in Sector 8.
