VADODARA, Sept 27: Even as the medical fraternity is reeling under the shock of the alleged molestation of a pregnant woman at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences AIIMS, New Delhi, by an intern of the Baroda Medical College BMC, junior doctors here allege that the college authorities had ignored earlier misbehaviour cases8217; against the accused.

The accused 8212; who had gone to All-India Institute of Medical Sciences as a part of the BMC delegation to attend Pulse8217;, a cultural function 8212; was arrested by the Delhi police when he reportedly tried to molest a pregnant woman in the AIIMS last week.

According to doctors at the SSG Hospital 8212; where the accused was working as an intern since August 8212; 8220;though the accused had a record of indulging in indecent behaviour with the patients, no action was taken by the Baroda Medical College.8221;

Blaming the college management for the incident, a doctor 8212; under conditions of anonymity 8212; claimed, 8220;If you keep on ignoring the mistakes for long, this is going to be the obvious outcome.8221;

While, hospital sources said, the accused was reprimanded by senior professors of the Gynecology department for his misbehaviour, he had also tendered a written apology to a senior professor in the department.

8220;Had the college authorities taken cognisance of these incidents, the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences case might not have taken place,8221; said a Resident Medical Officer RMO.

Regretting that the incident would severely damage the college8217;s reputation a Resident Medical Officer , in the radiology department, said, 8220;The action by the individual would be seen in generality. The organisers of Pulse would in future be wary of inviting us for the function.8221;
