Bloc, CPM hold meeting

Forward Bloc and CPM leaders met at the latter8217;s state headquarters at Alimuddin Street on Thursday. The two parties have been at loggerheads lately, with the Forward Bloc challenging the CPM stance over issues like Nandigram, Singur and the entry of corporate giants in retail sector.

The meeting was attended by Forward Bloc state secretary Ashok Ghosh and party leaders Hafiz Alam Sairani and Naren Chatterjee.

The CPM was represented by Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Biman Bose and Benoy Konar.

The Bloc has already announced that it will fight panchayat elections outside the banner of the Left Front.

The next meeting between the two parties has been slated for January 18.
