8226; It was surprising to hear Kapil Sibal lecturing us about communalism 8216;Sangh Parivar killers of Gandhi: Cong8217;, IE, April 1. I believe the most communal party is the Congress. It accepted the Partition on the basis of religion and then for the last 50 years played the communal card by appeasing Muslims. If you believe India is a secular country, there should be no words like 8220;minority8221; and 8220;majority8221;, with everyone being equal. India is India because it has Hindus in the majority. Hindu culture is the soul of India.

8226; Holding today8217;s Sangh Parivar responsible for the murder of Gandhi is like holding today8217;s Jews responsible for the murder of Christ!

More laws?
8226; The Congress should promise the nation to bring out legislation that forbids: 1 British informers and sympathisers like the RSS and BJP leaders from contesting elections in India. They may be allowed to try their luck in UK with whom they collaborated during the freedom struggle. 2 Persons more than 75 years 8212;because that is part of our Hindu philosophy vanprasth.

O Tagore
8226; I cannot agree with Antara Dev Sen about the demolition of the Babri Masjid and the Gujarat riots 8216;Nobel gazing8217;, IE, April 1. We fail to perceive events in a rounded manner. In our bid to decorate ourselves with the 8220;secular8221; tag, we hide the fact that for nearly 1,200 years, India has been invaded and attacked by Muslim marauders. Does secularism mean demeaning one8217;s own religion and appeasing minorities? One should look at the wave of events that happened before independence and the massacre of thousands of Hindus. I do not justify reprisals. But we need people to acknowledge hard truths. Tagore would certainly have been saddened by these Hindu massacres.

Team India
8226; Jayaditya Gupta8217;s article, 8216;Milestones in Multan8217; IE, March 31 is well-balanced without getting personal. No other paper carried such a balanced analysis. It is unfortunate that Sachin, of all the people, decided to air his surprise in public. For him, scoring a double century is no big deal. Team attitude is important and everyone should get into it.

8226; I agree that the team comes first. But that8217;s where my agreement with Jayaditya Gupta ends. How can you say the team8217;s interest was served by declaring just one over earlier and depriving Sachin of his double ton? In fact the team would have gained a huge psychological boost with one triple ton and one double ton in one innings!

Best of luck, Inzi
8226; I sympathise with Inzamam-ul Haq and the whole Pakistan team. It is very difficult to take a loss and more so from the Indian team. Both teams are well balanced and if Pakistan had batted first on that Multan wicket perhaps the scale would have been in their favor. Therefore rather than ruing over what has happened the Pakistan team would do better to plot a strategy and achieve it. The bowlers will require control more rather than speed and batsmen, more concentration than urgency. Good luck to them.
