LUCKNOW, JANUARY 9: The state BJP in the post-Kalyan Singh period is packaging itself in the new millennium to project the party as the one with a difference.
Senior leaders of the party, who met here for a two-day state working committee meeting which concluded this evening, have decided to listen to the grievances of grass-roots workers.
“We have had to face the consequences of indiscipline in the party, weakness of the cadre and resultant apathy of the people. Efforts should now be made to ensure that such things never recur,” said state BJP chief Om Prakash Singh, referring to the party rout in the state in the Lok Sabha elections.
The two-day crucial meeting of the BJP has decided that from now on tough action will be taken against indiscipline of any sort, regardless of the post or status of the offender. Though none among the working committee members dared discuss the issue of expelled party leader Kalyan Singh, it was clear that the delayed meeting was an attempt by the party leadership togauge the extent of damage the expulsion of Kalyan could cause among the state cadre.
