SHIMLA, July 26: The state executive of the ruling BJP today finalised a broad strategy for ensuring better coordination between the government and organisation up to the block-level. The party also decided to set up a committee to chalk out a plan of action for the government and adopt people-oriented programmes and highlight four-month performance of the government.

The meeting, which was held in presence of Narinder Modi, BJP general secretary was chaired by party state president Suresh Chandel. Former chief minister and sitting MP Shanta Kumar could not attend the meeting for personal reasons while CM Prem Kumar Dumal and other senior party members including Maheshwar Singh, were present.

The meeting was held at Bachhat Bhawan in the deputy commissioner’s office complex, setting a new precedent in the state.

Talking to media persons soon after the meeting, Suresh Chandel said all BJP ministers had been advised to tour the districts and hold meetings with party office-bearers to get their feed-back on functioning of the government. Some of the problems of the people would also be redressed at district and block levels. The CM himself would also ensure greater interaction with the workers.

Chandel said there was an overwhelming view in the meeting that the government adopt only people-oriented programmes which had a greater impact on the masses. For this, a committee would soon be set up to advise the government. A full-fledged action programme might be drawn up to implement this, he hinted.

The party leaders came under sharp attack for their inability to meet the targets on mobilisation of funds under the life-time membership drive. Except Kullu district, none other district could complete the task.

The party also distributed the work among its general secretaries. Khushi Ram Nalnatah, party general secretary will be in charge of Shimla parliamentary constituency besides being spokesman of the state unit. Dile Ram will be in charge of Kangra, Kripal Parmar, in charge of Hamirpur and Chander Mohan in charge of Mandi. Randhir Sharma, will be in charge of the party office.
